In Memory of Anthony Bourdain
Learning about the loss of Anthony Bourdain, I find myself vacillating between grief and gratitude. Yes — a life cut short, but what a life. We have much to be grateful for in all the ways that Anthony left his mark.
Those of us who know, or have known, the immobilizing force of darkness... we don’t ask why. We think: damn, the dark got another one of us. Anthony's passing highlights that it doesn't matter how successful or happy you may appear to the outside world, thoughts of ending your life can hit anyone.
As we speak about suicide in our own communities, may we also share prevention resources like the Toronto Distress Centre. You never know who is in need, and sometimes help is a phone call away.
