The Power of This Work
When I talk about the power of this work, I don't mean the power of the work I'm doing. I mean the power of us coming together, connecting, to do this work: look deeply inside of ourselves and explore who we really are. Did I ever see that this past weekend, when a group of brave women got together to explore the stories they tell themselves through the Daring Way™ Change Your Habits To Reclaim Your Worth workshop. This was a truly magical weekend, thanks not only to the women who joined us but also to my co-facilitator Jodi Larry, BA, ND, CYT.
Here's what one Daring Way™ participant shared about their experience:
"I did not know much about the workshop other than that it is based on Brené Brown's amazing work and that it was 18 hours. I walked in with five strangers and left feeling so connected to each and every one of them and their powerful stories. Through watching videos of Brené explaining different concepts, exercises, delving deeper into these concepts and group discussions, dancing, drawing, sharing, laughing, crying and creating, I walked away with these takeaways:
The only way to truly connect is to take off our emotional armour and be vulnerable
We all feel shame and most of us numb it through our vices
The things we feel shame about are rarely judged negatively by anyone other than ourselves
The only way to get rid of this shame is to give it a voice
We are all imperfectly perfect, and perfection is an unattainable goal to strive for"
We hope that you'll join Jodi and me... it has been so meaningful to facilitate this together because we align with our primary mission to support others in recognizing their worth.
