“The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure that you seek.” -Joseph Campbell

Many people are drawn to healing professions after overcoming their own health crisis. In my early 20s, I attended a 5-week rehab program  in Arizona, to address anxiety and depression that had plagued me for years.  It was a life-changing experience. I blossomed in a community of people that—like me—were shyly emerging to tell the full story of who they were. I learned first-hand a principle that my mentor, Brené Brown, often speaks about: when we show up to share our vulnerabilities and fears, we begin to flourish, grow, and connect.
